🌈 Meet Waffles🌈
Waffles🌈 holds a special place in our hearts. She brought unique joy, personality, and lessons into our lives. Read below to explore her story. 💖

🌈 Waffles
Born: July 1, 2019
Gotcha Day: May 29, 2022
🌈 Crossed Rainbow Bridge: August 26, 2024
Meet Waffles: Our Quirky, Sweet Girl
Waffles joined our family in May 2022 when her previous owner, facing a big move, needed to find her a new home. It was a difficult goodbye, but her family felt peace knowing Waffles was going to a hedgehog-experienced home where she would be loved and cared for.
Though a little “cranky” at times, Waffles charmed us with her quirks — from refusing bugs and wheels to showing her affection in her own quiet ways. She may not have fit the “typical hedgie mold,” but that’s what made her uniquely wonderful. She captured our hearts with her personality and reminded us that every hedgehog has its own special rhythm.
Saying Goodbye
In late August 2024, Waffles began showing signs of decline — wobbly and unsteady on her feet. After visiting an exotic specialist, she was diagnosed with anemia, infection, and the effects of aging. Though treatments briefly gave us hope, her condition quickly worsened.
On August 26, 2024, surrounded by love, we made the selfless decision to help her cross the Rainbow Bridge. It was heartbreaking, but we knew it was the kindest choice for her comfort and dignity.
Forever Remembered
Waffles’ time with us was filled with lessons in patience, resilience, and unconditional love. She reminded us that every hedgehog deserves to be seen, respected, and cherished for who they are. Though she is gone, her spirit remains a part of our family forever.
Until we meet again, sweet Waffles — run free across the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈🦔💛

“Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
Just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
They each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
You cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
And you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…”
